Profile

Carlos López is the partner in charge of the Andalucía and Canary Islands practices.

He joined the Madrid office of Arthur Andersen in September 1994 and later moved to the Seville office in April 1997. Between 1998 and 2002 (when he rejoined the firm to pursue his professional career) he was Manager of the Legal Department and General Secretary of Supercable Andalucía, the Andalusian cable telecommunications operator.

Carlos specializes in corporate and commercial law and his professional experience has principally focused on corporate matters and commercial and financial contracts. He has participated in numerous corporate transactions and financing processes, and currently holds the office of Board secretary for a number of companies operating in regulated sectors and in different manufacturing industries.

As part of the firm’s Corporate Law and Commercial Contracts Practice Area, he has acquired diverse experience in commercial and financial contracts. He has participated in processes for the negotiation and formalization of finance structures, investment agreements, private equity transactions and industrial procedures. Moreover, he has been involved in major transactions, contributing to the design of their legal structure and ultimate implementation.

From the outset of his professional career, Carlos has advised corporate bodies on company law, participating in the incorporation, transformation, merger, spin-off, division and dissolution of all kinds of corporate entities.

He has extensive experience in different types of mergers and acquisitions and in the restructuring of corporate groups. He has participated in national and international negotiations on joint ventures, consortiums and other forms of association.

He coordinates the Financial Law Department for western Andalucía, taking the lead in finance, securitization and venture capital transactions. In recent years, he has also participated in debt restructuring processes, providing advice to financial institutions and borrowers alike.

Carlos López lectures at various training centers (EOI, Instituto de Estudios Cajasol) and has delivered presentations on numerous specialist courses, postgraduate programs and conferences.
