Profile

Ana Carolina Barretto specializes in the areas of project finance and infrastructure development with significant expertise in the construction and natural resources industries. Ms. Barretto advises clients on some of the most prominent and high-value infrastructure and project finance deals in Brazil.


Recently, Ms. Barretto represented the ten largest Brazilian construction companies in the negotiation of the construction contract for the Belo Monte Power Plant, which will become the third largest power plant in the world, estimated at more than R$30B. She also represents Logum LogÃÆ'­Â­stica, a joint venture involving Petrobras, major players in the ethanol business in Brazil, such as Cosan and Copersucar, and the construction groups of Odebrecht and Camargo Correa. Ms. Barretto advises Logum on the project development and construction of an ethanol pipeline designed to bring ethanol to major consumer centers and ports for export that will be the longest in the world when complete. She also advised LLX Minas Rio, a joint venture between LLX and Anglo American, on the financing for development of the iron ore terminal at the AÃÆ'§u superport, negotiating with the Brazilian National Development Bank (BNDES) and commercial banks. The AÃÆ'§u superport will be the largest industrial port complex in Latin America. Ms. Barretto also advised Anglo American Brasil on the BNDES financing to expand the Barro Alto nickel mine.


Ms. Barretto represents sponsors, lenders, EPC contractors and equipment suppliers with their acquisition, development and financing of construction and infrastructure projects. She brings extensive industry knowledge and experience to clients in both the traditional and green energy sectors and also advises leading companies in the ship building industry.


Ms. Barretto was a Chevening/FCO scholar while studying at Oxford University in the United Kingdom, a scholarship program designed for talented people who have been identified as potential future leaders across a wide range of fields.
