Gavin George Receives Designation As Certified Information Privacy Professional

Gavin George, an associate in the Haynes and Boone, LLP Dallas office, has earned the designation of Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
The CIPP/US credential is the preeminent professional certification available in the information privacy area. The IAPP, founded in 2000, is the leading association for privacy professionals in the world, with more than 14,000 members in 83 countries.
In securing this credential, Gavin joins a select number of attorneys certified with respect to U.S. privacy laws, federal regulations, and requirements for the international transfer of personal data. Only a limited number of attorneys have earned the CIPP/US credential, which is sought primarily by privacy officers, compliance officers, auditors, information security specialists and other privacy professionals.
Gavin is a member of the firm's Privacy and Data Breach Practice Group, and advises clients on a wide range of compliance and transactional issues related to privacy and data security. His areas of expertise include privacy policies, vendor contracts, user agreements, compliance with federal and state privacy and data protection laws, Federal Trade Commission enforcement actions, European Union Safe Harbor, the Children's Online Privacy Protections Act (COPPA), HIPAA, and data breach notice obligations.
