Spillman, Thomas and Battle, PLLC advise on a $615 Million Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant

June, 2014 - Charleston, West Virginia

WSG member Spilman, Thomas and Battle, PLLC advises on the approval for and development of $615 million natural gas combined-cycle power plant in Marshall County, West Virginia by Moundsville Power LLC. Moundsville spokesman, Andrew W. Dorn, Jr., thanked Spilman, Thomas and Battle, PLLC for their legal and environmental assistance in the project that is expected to create 400 construction jobs and 30 permanent positions and be a catalyst for continued economic growth for the region. The plant will have a nameplate capacity of 549 megawatts and will produce electricity from the heat and rotational energy produced by the combustion of natural gas in two gas turbines. The exhaust heat is then used to produce steam, which drives a steam turbine to produce additional electricity without the use of additional natural gas.
