Law Firn Van Doorne appoints three new partners

August, 2015 - Netherlands

On 1 September 2015, Arno Voerman will become a partner at the law firm Van Doorne. From 1 January 2016, Dimitri van Hoewijk and Jeroen Sombezki will also join the partnership. The partnership will then consist of 40 partners.

Arno Voerman (43) has been a lawyer at Van Doorne since 2002. He specialises in financial law and focuses particularly on (innovative) payment services and FinTech (financial technology). He advises banks, payment institutions, insurers and investors on regulatory matters, including market entry and product development. He also advises financial organisations entering into joint ventures and supports clients in disputes with the AFM or DNB.

Dimitri van Hoewijk (42) has been a lawyer at Van Doorne since 2011. Dimitri is the M&A specialist within the Health Care & Life Sciences team. He has extensive experience in corporate law, health law and pharmaceutical law. His practice is mainly focused on corporate law transactions and joint ventures in the healthcare sector, with particular attention to (private equity) acquisitions in the healthcare and life sciences sector.

Jeroen Sombezki (35) has been appointed partner in the corporate law practice of Van Doorne. He currently works as counsel Corporate- and M&A at law firm Stibbe. Jeroen specialises in mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions and has worked in both Amsterdam and London. Within the Corporate team, Jeroen will focus on national and international mergers and acquisitions in the mid-market segment, in particular private equity and venture capital transactions.

Managing partner Hugo Reumkens about the appointments: "We feel it is important to focus on markets and legal areas in which we can make the difference. These three new appointments support our growth strategy. For example, Arno leads our FinTech team, a rapidly growing practice at Van Doorne. His experience with new innovative financial services fits in well with our service offering. Legal directory 'Chambers and Partners' has ranked our Healthcare practice in the highest category (tier 1). Over ten years ago, Van Doorne was the first law firm in the Netherlands to work with a dedicated group of lawyers, civil-law notaries and tax advisors for healthcare. With the appointment of Dimitri as partner, we are further extending this team. We are very much looking forward to the arrival of Jeroen in our Corporate team. Jeroen is a very experienced M&A lawyer with an excellent reputation. His move to Van Doorne is very much in line with the growth of our mergers and acquisitions practice."
