Haynes and Boone Awarded Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program's 2016 Gold Award for Large Law Firms

October, 2016 - Dallas, Texas

For the second consecutive year, Haynes and Boone, LLP has been awarded the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program's (DVAP) Gold Award for Pro Bono Service for law firms with more than 150 lawyers.

“Once again, this is superb validation of our lawyers' commitment to our community and its citizens," said Managing Partner Tim Powers. “Under the leadership of Debbie McComas, we have staffed DVAP clinics several times a year, taken on asylum cases and death penalty work, liberated some distressed neighborhoods of known drug houses and partnered with ExxonMobil lawyers to help veterans with their benefits claims. It is gratifying to see that our efforts are appreciated by DVAP.”

The firm received the award at the annual DVAP awards celebration Tuesday evening.

Haynes and Boone has a longstanding tradition of pro bono service in the Dallas community, including support for DVAP and its programs. DVAP is an organization dedicated to increasing and enhancing pro bono legal services to the poor in Dallas through the recruitment, training, and support of volunteer attorneys. DVAP is a joint program of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas created in 1997 when both organizations merged their previously separate pro bono programs to create one cohesive effort to address the legal needs of the poor in Dallas.
