Cisco Honors Haynes and Boone for "Excellence in Partnering"

August, 2017 - Dallas, Texas

Worldwide technology provider Cisco Systems, Inc. has selected Haynes and Boone, LLP for its Excellence in Partnering Award in recognition of the firm’s stellar results on patent litigation and related issues.

In announcing the award, Cisco Vice President, Litigation Leslie McKnew thanked Partners David McCombs, Theo Foster, Andrew Ehmke and Ken Parker for their “incredible work” and said the team they led “has provided exemplary legal services and achieved significant successes in key matters” for the company.

Specifically, McKnew said Haynes and Boone has helped the company defend against multiple overly broad patent assertions and licensing demands and has “achieved winning outcomes for Cisco through its deep knowledge of Cisco’s products, rapid and skilled identification of relevant prior art, preparation of successful IPR petitions (often under accelerated deadlines), advocacy of winning positions before the PTAB [Patent Trial and Appeal Board] and Federal Circuit, and consistently providing outstanding strategic counsel.”

In a letter to the firm, McKnew wrote: “We are so grateful for all that Haynes and Boone has accomplished for Cisco this year and we look forward to our continued, collective success on equally important and challenging matters in the upcoming year.”

“This is a tremendous honor for Haynes and Boone” said McCombs, chair of Hayne’s and Boone’s Technology Practice. “We view our relationship with Cisco as a true partnership. Cisco’s in-house legal team is world class, and we are proud to have the opportunity to work with such creative, dedicated people. We look forward to our continued collaboration to achieve successful outcomes for Cisco.”

“I cannot think of a greater privilege than to be recognized by one of the firm’s most valued clients,” said Haynes and Boone Managing Partner Tim Powers. “This award speaks to the firm’s core values to go beyond winning cases by building a strong and adaptive team to address the unique business issues faced by clients like Cisco.”

In addition to McCombs, Foster, Ehmke and Parker, the Haynes and Boone Cisco team includes professionals across the firm’s offices in California, New York and Texas: Raghav Bajaj, Dina Blikshteyn, Whitman Burns, Tom Chen, David Clark, Calmann Clements, John Russell Emerson, Lydia Epps-Hilliard, Gavin George, Allan Gustin, Michael Hann, Bethany Hrischuk, Gregory Huh, Scott Jarratt, Nicole Johnson, Thomas Kelton, Thomas King, Brian Kwok, Jason Lao, Marc Legrand, Theresa Lowe, Debra J.
