Haynes and Boone Represents Landry’s in Acquisition of Joe’s Crab Shack

August, 2017 - Dallas, Texas

Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Patrick Hughes and a team of lawyers represented affiliates of Landry’s, Inc., in its $57 million acquisition of certain restaurant assets of Ignite Restaurant Group, Inc. and affiliates, which own the Joe’s Crab Shack and Brick House restaurant chains across the country. The transaction closed August. 29.

The Ignite group filed chapter 11 bankruptcy cases in June. During a Chapter 11 auction in August to acquire Ignite’s restaurant assets, Landry's outbid other interested parties. Landry’s owns and operates over 500 high-profile restaurants nationwide, including Landry’s Seafood, Saltgrass Steak House, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Morton's The Steakhouse, and other chains.

Houston Bankruptcy Judge David Jones on Aug. 17 approved Landry’s agreement and bid to purchase the Ignite assets.

Hughes represents debtors, creditors, court-appointed committees and others in bankruptcies throughout the country. He was assisted in the Landry’s matter by a Haynes and Boone team that included Partner Jonathan Pressment, Counsel John Menke, and Associates Arsalan Muhammad and Sarah Jacobson.
