ENSafrica newsflash

March, 2018 - Cape Town, South Africa

We are delighted that two deals on which we were key advisors took top honours at the prestigious DealMakers Gala Awards this year. This follows on the back of the firm being recognised for its seamless Africa-wide expertise and market-leading capabilities by renowned international ratings agency Chambers and Partners, which recently released its 2018 rankings.

We are deeply honoured that you, our clients, continue to trust us with your most strategic, valuable and award-winning transactions across the African continent.

ENSafrica was lead counsel to African communications company Vodacom Group Limited in the deal that won the 2017 Deal of the Year at the DealMakers Gala Awards. This transformative, USD3-billion transaction involved a cross-border acquisition of a 34.94% indirect interest in the premier East African telecommunications operator, Safaricom Limited.

ENSafrica was also a key advisor to Capitalworks Investment Partners (Pty) Ltd on the deal that won the 2017 Catalyst Private Equity Deal of the Year. This matter involved the disposal of Capitalworks’ shares and claims in Much Asphalt (Pty) Ltd to AECI Limited, which entailed a comprehensive bidding process with national and international bidders and a value of ZAR2.3-billion.

We are humbled to have been trusted to play a key advisory role in the majority of the deals shortlisted for the Deal of the Year and Catalyst Private Equity Deal of the Year, and to have again been recognised as a leading corporate legal advisor in terms of both transaction value and transaction flow, for both M&A and General Corporate Finance at the DealMakers Gala Awards.
We are also incredibly grateful to those of you who took time out of your demanding schedules to participate in the Chambers and Partners research. As an independent rankings agency, Chambers and Partners relies on feedback from clients to ensure that its rankings are credible and can be relied upon.

It is through your input that ENSafrica has been ranked in 29 practice areas across eight African jurisdictions and in the Africa-wide category, and that the firm’s practitioners received 76 individual rankings as leading lawyers.

Clients and commentators quoted in the recently released Chambers Global Guide 2018 say of ENSafrica: “market-leading in all respects”, “specialists in the field with understanding not only of the law but also of our business” and “[t]he quality of their work is top-rate and they provide very strategic and cost-effective advice. It is a great firm that provides wonderful service and can handle a range of jurisdictions.” We will continue to strive to provide you with this high-quality, seamless, world-class service wherever you do business in Africa and to add value to your significant, high-value transactions to contribute to making them not only award-winning deals but also transformational for your business.
