Changing Trends in Trade Policy and Investment Regulation

U.S. trade policy has been dominating the headlines around the world. The Trump Administration has aggressively utilized tools such as investment rules (CFIUS), trade remedy actions and tariffs to address what it perceives as threats to national security. Critics of the Administration’s actions argue that this results in protectionism and a withdrawal of the United States from the world stage. We will discuss developing trends, the role of trade litigation and what we are likely to see over the short term.

Taking the Wheel: The Connected Car Market Disruption to Shared-Mobility and Worldwide IoT

We ask: how will autonomous vehicles be regulated and how will associated policy-making initiatives create opportunities for deployment? As connected cars learn some of the most personal details of our lives, eg: where do we go, when do we go there, when are we home, where do we shop and work, where do our children go to school and what locations do we go to at what time-- how will our own privacy and security be affected and what steps will be taken to protect this information? The connected car has the potential to majorly disrupt the way we work, and live/interact globally-- it is estimated the oil and gas industry will see a $39.4 billion value in the IoT market.
