Sherli handles a broad range of intellectual property matters in the retail and consumer products, fashion, and entertainment industries.

Sherli’s practice focuses on complex IP disputes such as trademark and copyright infringement, internet rights and the DMCA, contract and commercial disputes, rights of publicity, and unfair competition. Her experience includes representing clients with intellectual property policing and licensing, IP rights, and credit rights and revenue distribution. She regularly counsels retail, fashion, media, and food and beverage clients on managing intellectual property portfolios and protecting and enforcing those rights around the world. Sherli was shortlisted as an IP Rising Star in Managing IP’s Women in Business Law Awards Americas (2022), selected as a Rising Star for Intellectual Property Litigation Law by The New York Times Magazine (2017-2022), and recognized as a Rising Star in Entertainment & Sports by New York Super Lawyers (2017-2018).

Her practice also includes commercial disputes, government and regulatory investigations, cross-border litigation, and putative class/mass actions, involving contracts, torts, fraud, and other common law and statutory claims. She has particular experience advising companies with advertising and unfair competition claims, as well as financial institutions and multinational corporations through multijurisdictional disputes. She also has experience representing clients in a variety of financial services litigation matters, including banking and securities fraud, consumer retailing and franchising, and real estate-related litigation.

Sherli is a thought leader on a variety of issues, including IP rights in the blockchain, cryptocurrency (crypto), and non-fungible token (NFT or NFTs) space, and the intersection of IP, retail, and name, image, and likeness (NIL) statutes. She enjoys collaborating with colleagues, clients, and other outside counsel to strategically utilize each team member’s skills, attributes, and experience to generate effective and efficient results.

  • Represented high profile clothing designer in trademark infringement dispute.
  • Represented media client in a variety of IP policing and licensing matters.
  • Represented media client at trial for breach of note and fraudulent conveyance action.
  • Represented garment manufacturer in negotiating the settlement terms of a dispute over intellectual property rights.
  • Represented independent filmmaker in negotiating the settlement terms of a dispute over credit rights and revenue distribution.
  • Represented music entertainment company in matters related to copyright infringement, unfair competition and misappropriation.
  • Represented international manufacturer in declaration of non-infringement, non-dilution, declaration of invalidity, and an order of cancellation for trade dress.
  • Fox News Network v. TVEyes, Inc. (co-authored amici curiae brief on behalf of interested non-parties).
  • Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (co-authored amici curiae brief on behalf of interested non-parties).
