Profile

Christopher Butler is an associate in the complex litigation group. He has experience in a wide variety of commercial disputes including defending class actions, product liability and medical device litigation, foreclosure litigation, insurance recovery, and false advertising claims.

Chris has extensive practical experience in both federal and state courts. He has drafted numerous demurrers and motions to dismiss, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and appellate briefs. He also has substantial deposition experience.

Chris maintains an active pro bono practice having established himself as the primary brief drafter in two asylum cases. He has also contributed substantive research and drafting as a core member of a habeas class action team, in addition to handling multiple guardianship cases and offering his services at local legal aid clinics.

While attending the University of Virginia School of Law, Chris competed as a member of both the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy teams. As a member of the First Amendment Clinic, he drafted amicus briefs in cases implicating important free speech concerns.
