Profile

Amy is a specialist property development and leasing lawyer (commercial, retail, industrial and agricultural leases).  Amy has expertise successfully litigating and defending real property and leasing disputes in the Supreme Court NSW and in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Amy acts on behalf of key property funds and landlords in the Sydney CBD and property developers in regional NSW.  Her clients include Government Property NSW, Lendlease, Commonwealth Bank, Brookfield, DEXUS, Frasers, AMP and Charter Hall.

For over ten years, Amy has successfully acted on behalf of leading companies, property investment groups (real estate, development and leasing), the NSW Government, statutory corporations (including UrbanGrowth NSW), landlords, tenants, construction and building product companies (including CSR), property developers, banks (asset management) and private net worth individuals, in commercial litigation of a complex nature.

In 2016, Amy was nominated as a finalist in both the Australian Law Awards and Women in Law Awards as Special Counsel of the Year.

More widely, Amy is an experienced litigator in the NSW Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, the Appeal Panel, the NSW Administrative Appeals Tribunal, commercial arbitrations and mediations. Amy has also worked on two Royal Commissions of Inquiry: the Trade Union Royal Commission, leading an investigation team in relation to allegations of corruption in the Health Services Union and the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Amy has expertise running litigation which concerns complex issues of contract law, construction and rectification, property law (residential, commercial and retail leasing, aged care and retirement villages), planning and development, environmental contamination (asbestos), administrative law remedies, restitution, equitable remedies, private international law and cross-border protection, analysis of law at an appellate level and investigative inquiries.

Amy is also skilled at providing commercial legal advice and advising companies in relation to proactive risk management, having managed a contract review retainer for a leading international financial audit, tax and advisory firm.

Amy is experienced at reviewing contracts, in particular, lease agreements and advising clients in relation to the drafting of provisions so as to guard against risk.  Amy is a member of the Law Society of NSW Litigation, Law and Practice Committee and was formerly a member of the Dispute Resolution Committee and has published articles in the NSW Law Society Journal.
