On May 19, 2021, the Brazilian Secretariat of Foreign Trade (SECEX), of the Ministry of Economy (ME), published Notice nº 32/2021, initiating public consultations on the negotiations of Free Trade Agreements between Mercosur and Vietnam and Mercosur and Indonesia.
Mercosur and Vietnam concluded the Exploratory Dialogue phase in the first semester of 2020, when they expressed the possibility of negotiating a far-reaching Free Trade Agreement, which would be commercially meaningful and mutually advantageous.
The negotiations between Mercosur and Indonesia are in the Exploratory Dialogue phase, and, thus far, two meetings have been conducted, one in 2019 and the other in 2020.
The goal of public consultations is to ensure that interested parties, in particular from the private sector, express theirs interests and positions, thus subsidizing the Government with information in relation to tariff negotiations and negotiations on trade and investments with Vietnam and Indonesia.
In a more comprehensive manner, the following are considered “interested parties”: citizens, companies, associations, class entities, federations, confederations, consumers associations, NGOs, members of the academic community members of the state, municipal or district government or even others.
The submissions shall be presented by July 19, 2021, by means of electronic form, made available by SECEX.
