Memorandum Regarding Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards and Court Judgements in Lithuania

Foreign arbitral awards and court judgments in Lithuania may be enforced only after having been recognised and authorised for enforcement by the Court of Appeals of Lithuania, an authority empowered by the State to recognise awards/judgments and authorise their enforcement. Under no circumstances may foreign judgments or arbitral awards be reviewed on the merits of the case: they are only verified for the presence of certain conditions that may constitute the grounds for non-recognition of a particular foreign court judgment or arbitral award.
