Application window for Shoosmiths Foundation grant allocation opens

May, 2022 - Milton Keynes, England

Leading UK law firm Shoosmiths has announced the opening of its latest application window for funding grant allocations from the Shoosmiths Foundation.

The Shoosmiths Foundation is a grant-making body working to help address societal issues, empower sustainable change and improve the lives of the people and the environment in the UK. Grants are available for UK registered charities undertaking work in the UK.

In this round, the Shoosmiths Foundation invites applications that:

  • Relate to the social mobility aim of the Shoosmiths Foundation – to advance social mobility in the legal sector, and across the UK, in line with the Shoosmiths social mobility action plan
  • Are linked to a Shoosmiths location and relate to areas with lower social mobility prospects
  • Are for projects that help people into local employment or aim to address specific underrepresentation, for example, directly linking socio-economic background or social mobility prospects with other factors (including ex-military personnel, people with convictions, people experiencing homelessness, long-term unemployed, refugees and characteristics listed in the Equality Act 2010)

In its first year, the Shoosmiths Foundation donated £90,000 to charities End Youth Homelessness and Street league – supporting the firm’s strategic aim to advance social mobility.

Grants of £25,000 to £50,000 are available for UK registered charities undertaking work in the UK. The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Friday, 24 June 2022.

Nicola Ellen, Shoosmiths’ head of corporate responsibility, said: “We look forward to receiving applications so that Shoosmiths can make a meaningful difference to the charities we support. The work of the Shoosmiths Foundation forms part of our wider community commitments – an important element of the firm’s ESG vision to be the leading law firm in the UK famous for its positive contribution to society.”
