Deborah Williamson Included on The American Lawyer’s “South Trailblazers” List

Dykema is proud to announce that Deborah Williamson was recently included on The American Lawyer’s list of “South Trailblazers.” Williamson’s profile was featured in the fall issue of The American Lawyer.

Since 2013, The American Lawyer has published pieces honoring Trailblazers in a number of different sectors and locations. According to the publication, it recognizes “professionals who have moved the needle in the legal industry—professionals who are truly Trailblazers.”

Williamson’s clients to turn her for her leadership in oil and gas and bankruptcy. She was the first woman President of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) and the first woman Chair of the Texas State Bar Bankruptcy Law Section. Williamson is also a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and was recently elected as Regent.

As the only woman with a Band One ranking by Chambers USA for Business Bankruptcy in Texas, Williamson is a leader in her profession. She served as one of 19 members of the ABI Bankruptcy Reform Commission. She also authored When Gushers Go Dry, The Essentials of Oil & Gas Bankruptcy, the first guide to oil and gas bankruptcy and co-authored the first edition of the Bankruptcy Litigation Manual, both published by the ABI. In addition, Williamson served as co-chair of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Litigation Committee of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association. She is a frequent speaker in the community and is currently serving as a court-approved receiver in the Northern District of Texas in an action filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Williamson earned a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Houston Law Center, and a B.A. from the University of Texas at El Paso.
