Shepherd and Wedderburn makes Key Oil and Gas Appointment in Aberdeen

Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has appointed experienced oil and gas industry lawyer Kevin McGrory as partner in its Aberdeen-based energy practice.

With over 25 years’ experience within the oil and gas sector Kevin has held senior positions at a number of leading oil and gas companies including Unocal, Chevron, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Delta International and Fairfield Energy Limited.

Kevin qualified in 1983 and completed his Postgraduate in Petroleum Law in 1987 at Dundee University's Centre for Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy. Since then he has advised on a broad spectrum of oil and gas agreements and transactions including mergers and acquisitions, international upstream agreements, shareholders and subscription agreements, joint venture agreements and project financings in the UK, Western and Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Kevin has handled a significant number of high profile deals in the oil and gas and petrochemicals sectors, including, most recently, Fairfield Energy’s purchase of several North Sea oil fields from Shell, Esso, OMV and Statoil. While at Delta International he led the commercial negotiations with Innovene plc in respect of a $5 billion petrochemicals joint venture in Saudi Arabia.

Kevin will lead and build on Shepherd and Wedderburn’s existing energy practice, which includes upstream and service sector clients such as Total, Marathon, Shell, Talisman, Cairn, Bridge, Bowleven, Genesis and Decom North Sea.
