Speedy Delivery of Another Distribution Deal for Ocado

February, 2011 - Edinburgh, Scotland

Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn, has this week completed the acquisition of a new site in Wimbledon for Ocado Limited.

The site will be used to house a bespoke distribution centre of almost 40,000 sq ft, allowing Ocado to expand its service by increasing its capabilities for deliveries in London and the South East.

The deal comes hot on the heels of the acquisition in late 2010 of a site at Avonmouth, Bristol for a similar development to service the South West.

Shepherd and Wedderburn was appointed in September 2010 to provide property, planning, construction and procurement support to Ocado as it expands its operations in England.

Founded by Tim Steiner and Jason Gissing, Ocado is the first in a new generation of supermarkets, placing emphasis on quality, accessibility and the true environmental impact of the grocery journey. The company floated in 2010, partly to fund further infrastructure growth.

Michael Scott, a partner in Shepherd and Wedderburn’s London commercial property team, is leading the relationship. He commented: “Ocado’s expansion is fuelled by their determination to do things differently. As the business grows, further opportunities present themselves, and we are committed to helping Ocado develop these to the full.”
