Shepherd and Wedderburn completes third acquisition for Ocado

August, 2011 - Edinburgh, Scotland

Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has completed the acquisition of a new regional distribution site at Stanford-in-the-Vale, Oxfordshire for client Ocado.

The 43,000 sq ft regional ‘spoke’ site will allow online supermarket Ocado to process 10,000 orders a week and further expand its delivery presence in the south of England.

The deal follows two acquisitions in the past year of similar sites at Avonmouth, Bristol and Wimbledon.

Shepherd and Wedderburn was appointed in September 2010 to provide property, planning, construction and procurement support to Ocado as it expands its operations in England.

Established in 2002, Ocado is the first in a new generation of supermarkets, placing emphasis on quality, accessibility and the true environmental impact of the grocery journey.

Lynne Scott, a partner in Shepherd and Wedderburn’s London property and infrastructure team, is leading the construction elements of the deal. She commented: “Ocado's expansion is driven by their dedication to provide people with an innovative and greener alternative to traditional grocery shopping. Infrastructure is at the centre of that vision and we're pleased to be helping them to realise their goals."
