Consortium Centro America acted as Counsel as Puma Energy Obtains the Authorization from the Antitrust Authorities for the Acquisition of Exxonmobil's Assets in El Salvador

Consortium Centro America Abogados - El Salvador office- acted as counsel of Puma Energy International, a subsidiary of Trafigura Beheer B.V. - one of the world’s largest independent commodity traders – during the concentration process that was finally approved this day by the Superintendence of Competition of El Salvador.

With the approval granted by the Board of Directors of the Superintendence of Competition, Puma Energy will be able to continue with the acquisition process and with the consolidation of operations of Puma and ExxonMobil’s assets in El Salvador, including the largest refinery of the country.

Puma Energy is located in over 26 countries worldwide, and employs more than 1,800 people and its activities in the midstream sector include the supply, storage and transportation of petroleum products. Puma Energy’s downstream activities include the distribution, retail and wholesale of a full range of refined products.

The company has a global network of over 500 retail service stations and a wide range of strong product offerings and services.

“One of the highlights of this process, is that the Superintendence of Competition established an ex-ante condition in its final resolution, and Puma Energy fulfilled the antitrust authorities requirements to comply with the established condition and obtained the final approval in less than two weeks after the aforesaid condition was set” – explained Dr. Diego Martín Menjívar, the partner who led the process inside the Law Firm.
