JB Kind opens door on a new chapter

March, 2015 - Birmingham, England

Springboard Corporate Finance is pleased to announce that it has advised on the management buy-out of JB Kind.

JB Kind Limited, a leading UK distributor of doors based in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire has been acquired by its management team, led by Managing Director James Cadman, for an undisclosed sum. The transaction was completed with funding from Lloyds Bank.

JB Kind has a long and illustrious history, having been founded in 1870. The business now focusses on the distribution of innovative and bespoke wooden doors and associated products for the home enhancement market to builders’ merchants and house builders.

JB Kind Managing Director James Cadman commented: “The Directors of JB Kind are very pleased to have completed this transaction and look forward to the next phase of development for the Company. Significant opportunity now exists to build on the business’ history and reputation within the industry. We are excited by the opportunities ahead for the sector as we see greater demand for style and innovation from house builders and home owners alike.”

The management team of JB Kind was advised by David Neate and Robert Johnson from Springboard Corporate Finance and Simon Gill from Gateley LLP.

Commenting on the deal on behalf of Springboard, David Neate said: “Under James’ leadership, JB Kind has emerged strongly from the downturn in the UK construction market. The management buy-out will enable the business to further develop and broaden its product offering whilst capitalising on resurgent demand in the market. It is clear to us that the building product sector as a whole will show strong growth over the next couple of years and this undoubtedly will see further M&A activity.”

Simon Gill, Corporate Partner at Gateley LLP added: “We were delighted to work with James again and to support him and his team throughout the transaction. The business is strongly placed to benefit from the recent growth in the UK economy and we look forward to supporting them in the future.”
