Thomas R. Julin of Hunton & Williams LLP Named Among Daily Business Review’s 2015 Most Effective Lawyers

December, 2015 - MIAMI, Florida

Hunton & Williams LLP announces Thomas R. Julin was recognized by the Daily Business Review as its 2015 Most Effective Lawyer in the Public Interest category.

Julin represented activists protesting the business practices of Worldwide Primates Inc. The company is one of only two registered facilities in Florida that is authorized by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a quarantine facility for monkeys and other nonhuman primates entering the country for use in biomedical research.

The company filed suit in Miami-Dade Circuit Court against 34 people accused of engaging in violent protests at its headquarters. Julin intervened on their behalf by providing legal services worth about $320,000. In total, the team contributed nearly 650 pro bono hours.

“What we were trying to do was make sure there was no injunction entered that would infringe on the protesters’ right to express their views,” Julin said.

The Daily Business Review’s Most Effective Lawyers awards recognize the work of South Florida attorneys across 12 categories. The lawyers were judged on one critical benchmark: client results.
