Springboard lays foundation for McPhillips’ future

Telford based McPhillips Holdings Limited has undergone a management buy-out. The deal sees joint Managing Directors Peter and Nicholas McPhillips retire from the leading regional civil engineering business.

McPhillips provides award winning civil engineering and building solutions throughout the Midlands, North West and Wales. The business has an impressive client base of blue chip customers such as Taylor Wimpey, Morris Homes, Bellway Homes, Telford and Wrekin Council and The Highways Agency. McPhillips has a highly skilled and loyal workforce of over 250 employees and generates revenues in excess of £40 million per annum.

Peter and Nick McPhillips commented; “We are extremely proud of the progression the company has made since starting in Wellington in 1964. We have become a multi-talented/multi-discipline civil engineering and building contractor with a strong reputation throughout the region. We have great confidence in the senior management team who will continue to run the company with the same ethos.”

The management team will now be led by newly appointed Managing Director Paul Inions, who joined the firm as a trainee quantity surveyor 27 years ago. Paul said “The values upon which the business was founded by the McPhillips family will continue to be promoted. With a buoyant order book and new opportunities ahead, we are looking forward with confidence to a bright future.”

The transaction was led by Springboard Corporate Finance, with a team headed by Partner David Neate and Assistant Director Robert Johnson.
