International Bar Association Holds Conference on Ethical Issues in Employment

Our Managing Partner, Lia Alizia, was invited as a speaker and panelist at the International Bar Association's (IBA) Annual Employment and Discrimination Conference in Montreal, Canada. Held from 2-4 May 2018, this year's theme was Ethical Issues in Employment Law. Renowned lawyers from around the world convened to discuss current and emerging employment and discrimination law issues from both regional and global perspectives, such as Local Laws, Personal Ethics and Corporate Standards; New Immigration Restrictions in Developed Nations; Freedom of Expression and Right to Control Employees' Activity; and Global Citizenship for Multinational Companies, among others.

On 4 May 2018, the group of panelists composed of international law practitioners from London, Berlin, Milan, Ontario, New York, and Barcelona presented about and tackled General Data Protection Regulation and Data Privacy. Part of this plenary session was the presentation of Lia Alizia - the representative from Jakarta. The session was moderated by several members of the IBA Employment and Industrial Relations Law Committee.

The conference was co-presented by the IBA Employment and Industrial Relations Committee and the IBA Diversity and Equality Law Committee.
