WSG Elects 2018-2019 Board of Directors

WSG is pleased to announce the election of the 2018 - 2019 Board of Directors including officers: Francesco Gianni, Gianni, Origoni, Grippo, Cappelli & Partners as Chair; Michael Bernard, Dykema as Chair Elect; Ramon Moyano, Beccar Varela as Secretary and Judith Whitehead, Graham Thompson as Treasurer. “I am honored to serve as Chair of WSG, said Mr. Gianni. “I look forward to maximizing the visibility of WSG and its member firms and to demonstrate the strength of WSG as the premier network of leading independent firms across the globe.

Outgoing Chair Mark Harty, Partner at LCS & Partners, transitioned his position to incoming Chair, Francesco Gianni and extended a heartfelt gratitude and acknowledgement of dedicated participation to our outgoing Directors Pablo Iacobelli, Carey; Carine Van Regenmortel, ALTIUS/Tiberghien and David Allard, Lawson Lundell. WSG thanks Mark Harty, WSG Chair 2017 - 2018, Mr. Iacobelli, Ms. Van Regenmortel and Mr. Allard, Directors 2014 - 2018, for their exemplary years of service and support in the continuing growth and development of WSG.

The 17th Annual Meeting held in Nassau, Bahamas also marked the election of four (4) new Directors to the WSG Board: Yvon Dreano, Jeantet; André Vautour, Lavery Lawyers, Pedro Aguiar de Freitas, Veirano Advogados and Adam Handley, MinterEllison. The newly elected Directors will serve a four-year term.



Newly Elected Directors:



Yvon Dreano, Partner, Jeantet – France

Yvon Dreano is a Partner and a member of the Managing Board of Partners at Jeantet, legal firm member for France. Mr. Dreano’s practice focuses on litigation, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and restructuring and insolvency. Mr. Dreano has been very active within WSG personally attending many events and participating as a part of the European Regional Council for two years from 2014 - 2016. Jeantet joined WSG in 2011 and has been very active in many aspects of WSG including hosting more than seven meetings, attending events and actively referring opportunities to members across the globe.

André Vautour, Partner, Lavery Lawyers – Quebec, Canada

André Vautour is a Partner at Lavery Lawyers and acted as Chair of the Board of Directors for the firm from 2012 - 2016. Mr. Vautour focuses his practice in corporate and commercial law, strategic alliances, joint ventures, investment funds and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Vautour has been a very engaged member of WSG sitting on the North American Regional Counsel from 2014 - 2016, attending many events and participating in Practice Groups. Lavery Lawyers joined WSG in 2004 and has acted as host to an Annual Meeting and Canadian Managing Partners Meetings.

Pedro Aguiar de Freitas, Partner, Veirano Advogados – Brazil

Pedro Aguiar de Freitas is a Partner at Veirano Advogados, legal firm member for Brazil. Mr. Freitas has extensive expertise advising clients on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and infrastructure issues with exceptional industry knowledge in mining, construction, project finance, energy and natural resources gained from his years as in-house counsel. Mr. Freitas has been a very active WSG member participating in more than 20 events and contributes to three WSG Industry and Practice Groups. Additionally, Mr. Freitas participated as a part of the Latin American Regional Council from 2015 - 2017 acting as Chair in 2017. Veriano Advogados joined WSG in 2003 and has hosted multiple WSG events over the years.

Adam Handley, Partner, MinterEllison, Australia

Adam Handley is the Managing Partner of Western Australian business at MinterEllison, legal firm member for Australia. Mr. Handley is a Senior Partner specializing in North Asian merger and acquisitions and project development in the energy, resources and agricultural sectors. As a WSG member, Mr. Handley is actively involved in various WSG Practice Groups and events, and he has participated in the Asia Regional Council since 2017. MinterEllison joined WSG in 2004, hosted the IBA event in 2017 among several other meetings, and has actively participated throughout the firm’s tenure.
