Shepherd and Wedderburn Celebrates its 250th Anniversary

October, 2018 - United States of America

On 6 July 1768, David Stewart was admitted as a Writer to the Signet, laying the foundations of the firm that became Shepherd and Wedderburn.

Since then, Shepherd and Wedderburn has grown to become one of Scotland’s top independent law firms – with offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Aberdeen – and their relationship with the business and financial sectors has endured and prospered. Shepherd and Wedderburn lawyers have been at the forefront of innovation in all the key sectors of the economy – from the expansion of Edinburgh’s financial services sector and the privatization of state industries to, more recently, work on world-leading clean energy projects and with one of Scotland’s first tech unicorns.

This year is an important milestone for the firm, and an opportunity for to recognize and celebrate the achievements of their clients and contribution to their success. Shepherd and Wedderburn‘s focus is firmly on the future, building on a proud heritage of excellent client service, supporting innovation, economic growth and international commerce. Establishing long-standing relationships of trust, founded on the highest quality legal advice and client service, is a hallmark of Shepherd and Wedderburn.

To recognize a continued focus on clients, and the contribution they make to the economy, Shepherd and Wedderburn have commissioned the University of Strathclyde’s Fraser of Allander Institute to undertake a major research project, which hopes to help Scottish businesses, organizations and entrepreneurs address how to best position themselves for the future.

Shepherd and Wedderburn’s milestone 250th anniversary year will also see the firm build upon the positive contribution their people have made to the communities in which they live and work, through the provision of pro bono legal advice, and their extensive programme of volunteering and financial support to a wide variety of charities.
