Haynes and Boone’s National Real Estate Practice Expands With the Arrival of Anthony W. Pierotti in Orange County

April, 2014 - Irvine, California

Longtime real estate practitioner Anthony W. Pierotti is bringing a Southern California component to the growing national Haynes and Boone, LLP real estate practice.

Pierotti joins the firm’s Orange County office as a partner with more than 26 years of experience in the sector, fortifying the resources available to Haynes and Boone clients doing deals in one of the nation’s hottest real estate markets. Pierotti’s recruitment is further evidence of Haynes and Boone’s commitment to a full-service presence in Southern California through its fast-growing Orange County office.

“Tony’s skills are a wonderful fit for us and make him an ideal addition to our practice in California,” said Walter Schleimer, the New York partner who chairs the firm’s real estate section. “His arrival continues the growth of our national real estate practice, representing national and international clients in all aspects of their real estate investment activities.”

Schleimer said he expects the business developed by Pierotti will mesh nicely with the high-end work currently being conducted by the firm’s 75 real estate lawyers practicing in their New York, Dallas, Houston, Fort Worth, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro offices. This latest hiring continues the firm’s strategic goal to expand its main practice areas, including finance and capital markets, joint venture, sales and acquisitions, restructuring, and leasing work.

“We are engaged with a great and growing client base that demands top-tier legal work,” Schleimer said. “It is a mix of both well established and up-and-coming clients, and Tony’s presence in Orange County will allow us to expand our offerings to accommodate our clients’ California real estate needs.”

Pierotti’s practice emphasizes real estate development, acquisitions and sales, joint venture, finance, tax, and land use. A significant portion of his work involves development of master-planned communities, including the representation of clients in the entitlement process and in structuring and implementing merchant builder programs for residential development. Another considerable portion of Mr. Pierotti's practice involves representing both lenders and borrowers in construction and permanent financing for real estate assets, including multi-state transactions. Pierotti also has extensive experience in joint ventures, office and industrial leases, telecommunications leases, and other site-use agreements, and in the sale and liquidation of distressed real estate development projects.

Among Pierotti’s recent representations was a developer of master-planned communities in the sale of more than $150 million in properties to merchant builders throughout California. He also represented an investment group in connection with a master-planned, mixed-use development in Las Vegas, involving casino, hotel and residential components. He has also recently represented a number of homebuilding companies in purchasing land for new development and structuring related construction financing facilities.

The Haynes and Boone real estate practice assists national and international institutions, opportunity funds, investors and developers in structuring and documenting complex real estate transactions in virtually all asset classes.
