New Developments in DOD Cybersecurity Rules - What ALL Federal Contractors Need To Know
When

2:00 - 3:00 PM
Since 2016, many government contractors that do business with the Department of Defense (DoD) have certified that their IT systems comply with more than the 100 security requirements issued by the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST).
On November 30, 2020, the regulatory landscape will change significantly when DoD's Interim Rule on NIST SP 800-171 DoD Assessment and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Framework takes effect. With the Interim Rule, DoD contractors will no longer be able to self-certify compliance with the NIST standards. Going forward, contractors will need to have a DoD Assessment on file to be eligible for award. Civilian agencies like the General Services Administration (GSA) have indicated they will likely soon adopt the DoD's framework.
