Stephen Jacobi, Guest Speaker and Executive Director to the New Zealand International Business Forum and New Zealand China Council, shared his engaging presentation titled “Trading in an Uncertain World: Post TPP Trade Agenda for New Zealand & Asia." Mr. Jacobi’s thought provoking and interactive presentation provided tremendous insight and strategic choices for a post TPP world, and the potential impacts facing New Zealand and the wider region. Additional highlights discussed were how to face future uncertainties for the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), and where Asia Pacific regions should be looking for open trade and investment.

Guest Speaker, Joyce Li, Partner, Han Kun Law, addressed delegates on her presentation, “One Belt, One Road.” Ms. Li shared an overview of the significance OBOR has played since it was first promulgated in 2013, and the paramount of economic success that connectivity provides today’s global economy.

Sarah Sinclair, partner, MinterEllisonRuddWatts, addressed delegates on her presentation “Advising Governments in Disaster Recovery – Christchurch Earthquake Case Study.” Ms. Sinclair’s expertise in energy work and advising governments in disaster recovery laid groundwork for a well-versed presentation advising on: sustainable and resilient infrastructure projects, joint venture and consortium arrangements, and contracting structures.

Additional highlights discussed were whether panels deliver real benefits to corporates and General Counsels, and what the common mistakes repeated by law firms are when delivering services.
