Profile
Among the power projects where Ms. Manguiat acted as legal counsel for the proponents are the 1200 MW KEPCO Ilijan natural gas power plant and the 200 MW KEPCO SPC Power Corporation coal-fired power plant. She has also advised a number of bidders, among them Korea Electric Power Corporation and SPC Power Corporation, in the privatization of the assets of the National Power Corporation by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation.
She was also involved as co-counsel to Metro Rail Transit Corporation which built the MRT 3 rail transit system that runs along EDSA from North Avenue in Quezon City to Pasay City. She also acted as co-counsel to the lenders in the financing of the NAIA Terminal 3.
Ms. Manguiat is also active in mergers and acquisitions. Among others, she was counsel to NTT Communications Corporation in its acquisition of a minority stake in Smart Communications, Inc. and later, in Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company; to The Ascott Limited in its acquisition of the former Oakwood Premier Hotel (now Ascott Makati Hotel); and Kingdom Hotel Investments Limited in its joint venture with Ayala Land, Inc. for the Fairmont Hotel and Raffles Residences Project.
She is a director and/or Corporate Secretary in various companies in the Philippines. She has been practicing law for the past 24 years, including two years with Anderson Mori & Tomotsune in Tokyo, where she was a foreign legal associate. She is currently a member of the Executive Committee of SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan.
