Adam C. Doupé is a Shareholder in the Firm’s Seattle office and a member of the Litigation and Health Care practice groups. For approximately fifteen years, Mr. Doupé has assisted Fortune 500 companies, mid-size and small businesses, non-profit organizations, municipalities, and individuals in resolving civil litigation matters under the most challenging of circumstances. Skilled at all phases of the litigation process, including discovery, trials, and appeals, he is fully committed to protecting his clients’ interests from inception of a case through resolution. Mr. Doupé maintains a broad general civil litigation practice focused in the following areas:

Business and Real Estate Litigation

Mr. Doupé represents Fortune 500 companies, small business owners, investors, landlords, and tenants in various business and real estate litigation matters, including breach of contract cases, lease disputes, business tort cases, partnership disputes, trade secrets litigation, purchase and sale disputes, and unfair business practices claims.

Real estate brokers, wealth management professionals, mortgage lending companies, and other licensed professionals have trusted Mr. Doupé to defend their interests before state and federal regulatory bodies. He has successfully defended clients against regulatory investigations and disciplinary actions brought by the California Department of Real Estate, California Department of Corporations, Washington Department of Financial Institutions, FINRA, and federal agencies.

Banking and Creditors’ Rights

Mr. Doupé has represented banks, private equity clients, and investors in workouts of distressed debt, real estate finance disputes, lender liability cases, receivership actions, breach of guaranty cases, and contested matters in bankruptcy. On behalf of creditors, Mr. Doupé is also skilled at enforcing judgments and prosecuting actions to avoid fraudulent transfers. He has also counseled creditors in judicial and non-judicial foreclosures of real and personal property, lien priority disputes, and evictions.

Healthcare

Mr. Doupé maintains a general healthcare practice that includes counseling and litigation support, when necessary. To that end, Mr. Doupé provides general legal advice to healthcare providers and counsels physicians during employment transitions. He has also represented skilled nursing facilities, operators, and investors in citation appeals before the Departmental Appeals Board and in appeals arising from the issuance or denial of certificates of need. Mr. Doupé understands the business concerns of his healthcare clients and is committed to preserving their reputations through the successful resolution of a litigation matter.

Construction Defect and Transportation Liability

Mr. Doupé has defended property owners, general contractors, piping suppliers, and developers in cases involving claims of construction defect, products liability, soil erosion, mudslides, water intrusion, environmental contamination, and catastrophic personal injuries. Mr. Doupé has also defended municipalities in cases alleging dangerous conditions of public property. He has defended trucking companies, drivers, operators, and railroads in cases alleging catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death.

High Net Worth Individual Representation

In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Doupé has advised high-net-worth individuals in asset acquisitions, financings, restructurings, and dispositions. To that end, for high-net-worth investor clients, he has prepared security agreements, operating agreements, promissory notes, and boat mortgages.
