Significant Accomplishments
Cementos Progreso is expanding its presence in Central America. BLP has advised Cementos Progreso Holdings, S.L. on the $335 million acquisition of assets from Cemex, S.A.B of C.V. in Costa Rica and El Salvador. The acquisition includes a cement plant, a cement mill, various ready-mix concrete plants, an aggregates quarry, and distribution centers in Costa Rica and El Salvador. The transaction bolsters Cementos Progreso’s expansion in Central America, consolidating operations in seven countries.
BLP is advising Gencom Group in civil and criminal proceedings to safeguard the real estate, economic, and administrative concession rights of the companies Grupo Istmo Papagayo Ltda., North Peninsula Holdings Ltda. and Ecodesarrollo Papagayo Ltda., all owned by Gencom Group in Costa Rica.
BLP advises Uber Technologies, the mobility services provider based in more than 900 metropolitan areas worldwide, in a lawsuit filed by the National Federation of Taxi Cooperatives (FENACOTAXI) and various municipal taxi cooperatives.
