Derek Trotter is a senior advisor* in Bradley’s Governmental Affairs and Economic Development practice groups. He helps clients ranging from small, Alabama-based businesses to Fortune 500 companies navigate state and local government.

During his tenure as chief of staff to Alabama’s top-ranking senator, Yellowhammer News called Derek “one of state government’s most savvy operators.”

With nearly two decades of experience in Alabama government and politics – including serving as director of Legislative Affairs for the governor of Alabama and more than eight years as a senior Senate staffer – Derek represents clients on matters related to appropriations, banking, construction, economic development, healthcare, real estate, procurement, taxation, technology, and transportation, among others.

A graduate of Auburn University, Derek works with the team at Bradley to provide a full range of governmental affairs services at the state and federal level. He helps clients solve problems and capitalize on opportunities by assisting them with both advocacy and compliance.
