Articling Student

Alioune is currently studying law at McGill University in the B.C.L./LL.B. program. While doing so, he also volunteers as a jurist at the Mobile Legal Clinic, a non-profit organization which helps homeless, impoverished and marginalized people by providing them with legal information.

Significant Accomplishments

In addition, he previously worked as a research assistant for professor Colleen Sheppard at the McGill Faculty of Law on issues of constitutional law and systemic discrimination.

Prior to his legal training, Alioune studied in the literary preparatory classes program in France. He then attended the Bordeaux Institute of Political Studies ("Sciences Po Bordeaux"), where he completed a masters in international relations, which included participating in exchanges at Université Laval and the University of California, Berkeley. In his first professional experiences, he worked primarily on international justice issues. In particular, he led the observation of the trial of the former President of Chad, Hissène Habré, who was tried and convicted of crimes against humanity in an ad hoc jurisdiction in Senegal between 2015 and 2017.
