Profile

George’s practice focuses exclusively on pro bono matters.

George serves as chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Leadership Committee and managing partner of the firm’s pro bono offices in the Church Hill community of Richmond and in Charlottesville, Virginia, where the firm partners with the University of Virginia Law School. In his role as chair of the Pro Bono Leadership Committee, George helps to establish firmwide policies and coordinates the activities of the pro bono committees in each office.

Prior to joining the firm, George served in the U.S. Army and as Special Counsel to the Governor of Virginia. He spent 25 years practicing in the area of general corporate and corporate and finance law before devoting his practice exclusively to pro bono matters. In 2009 George was recognized as a Lifetime Achiever by American Lawyer magazine. He is active as a board member in various community organizations including The Greater Richmond Bar Foundation; the Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Drug Court Foundation; Lawyers Helping Lawyers, a Virginia non-stock corporation devoted to helping lawyers who have problems with alcohol or other drugs; and the Partnership for Nonprofit Excellence.
