Senior Associate

Karl Chabot focuses his practice on civil and commercial counselling, law and litigation, and health and social services law. He works in many different areas, catering to a wide range of clients, from individuals to SMEs, large corporations and government agencies, and is involved in all stages of various matters. Karl assists his clients in establishing their legal and corporate positions and intervenes in all kinds of disputes, from developing strategic advice to representing clients before Quebec’s trial and appellate courts.

His practice spans extra-contractual and contractual liability, insurance law, construction law, real estate law and securities law, and also covers professional liability, enabling him to represent professionals across all sectors. For example, Karl represented health and social services professionals from the Montréal West Island Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre in the Desmond Fatality Inquiry in Nova Scotia.

Previously, Karl held the position of senior legal counsel with the largest cooperative financial group in North America. In addition to being a true business partner, he makes every effort to prevent contentious situations from arising. His approach is centred on his clients’ needs, and he strives to resolve conflicts quickly and definitively, using pragmatic and efficient methods to propose viable and lasting solutions to his clients.

Karl also teaches at and develops instructional materials for the École du Barreau du Québec, serves as a director on the board of the Fondation de l’Ordre des dentistes du Québec and is a Governor of the Future with the Fondation du Barreau du Québec.

Furthermore, Karl is a member of the Disciplinary Council of the Barreau du Québec.
