Profile
Lauren’s practice focuses on privacy and cybersecurity issues.
Lauren is an associate with the firm’s global privacy and cybersecurity practice. She assists clients in identifying, evaluating and managing privacy and information security risks as well as compliance issues associated with federal, state and international privacy and data security laws. She also assists with data breach response and notification obligations, including preparation of required notifications. Lauren is a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
Prior to joining the firm, Lauren was with the US Department of Homeland Security where she advised on matters related to privacy and information sharing. She was responsible for ensuring compliance with federal privacy laws and regulations, developing and implementing privacy and information sharing policies, conducting risk assessments of agency operations, and remediating data breaches. She also worked with agency operators to build privacy protections into data systems and interfaced with the public to respond to and provide redress for complaints of privacy violations.
Relevant Experience
- Assists clients on compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA).
- Assists clients with data breach and cybersecurity incident response, including analyzing breach notification obligations from state, federal and international breach laws; preparing notifications to individuals and regulators; and responding to regulator inquires and investigations.
- Assists clients with privacy and data security provisions and indemnities contained in vendor agreements.
- Prepares internal and consumer-facing privacy and information security policies and procedures, such as online privacy notices and Acceptable Use policies.
