Profile

Matt leads DSD Advisors, LLC, the full-service government relations firm that partners with public, private, and nonprofit clients to achieve their public policy goals at the local, state and federal levels.

He formerly served as the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s senior vice president for Government Affairs, where he led the organization’s efforts to advance the Chamber’s legislative agenda in the Greater Cincinnati region, Columbus and Washington, D.C. He lobbies elected officials on key business issues such as economic development, health care, tax, trade, transportation, energy, labor and education.

Matt also serves as the director of the Build Our New Bridge Now Coalition, an advocacy organization made up of nearly 200 business, labor, community and government leaders charged with creating the political will to build a new Brent Spence Bridge Corridor faster and more efficiently.

While at the chamber, Matt also served as interim executive director of REDI Cincinnati, the Cincinnati region’s primary economic development organization, charged with attracting, expanding and retaining businesses for a three-state, 15-county footprint.

Matt was responsible for REDI Cincinnati’s investor relations efforts, which include more than 100 public, private and nonprofit investors and a 12-member team of economic development professionals. He and the REDI Cincinnati team drove results in business attraction, retention and expansion by growing key industry clusters and crafting incentive packages in conjunction with local economic development organizations and JobsOhio. In 2013, REDI Cincinnati played a role in closing 44 business attraction, expansion or retention projects that created more than 3,100 new jobs and nearly $300 million in capital investment for the Cincinnati region.

He also represented the region on the JobsOhio Network Leadership Team and as an ex-officio member of the Board of Northern Kentucky Tri-ED, Northern Kentucky’s economic development corporation.

Prior to joining the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, Matt was the vice president for Public Affairs at the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, serving as the organization’s liaison with elected officials, community leaders, and media outlets. He is also a founding member of the Northern Kentucky Business PAC, a non-partisan political organization that supports pro-business candidates who protect and champion a pro-economic growth agenda for Kentucky.

Matt served as executive director for the Great Lakes Regional Office of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Chicago, Illinois. He led the organization's efforts to advance the U.S. Chamber’s legislative agenda by strengthening its relationships with Members of Congress through member businesses, associations and local chambers of commerce throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania. Specifically, he lobbied Congress and built grassroots support for issues such as education and workforce development, transportation and infrastructure, health care, international trade, labor, and tax policy.

Before joining the U.S. Chamber, Matt served on the government relations team at Convergys Corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio where he managed the corporation’s political action committee and lobbied elected officials at the federal, state and local levels on issues such as data security, global sourcing, and tax policy. He has also served as regional representative for Treasurer of the State of Ohio, Joseph Deters. There, Matt managed relationships with community leaders, elected officials and financial institutions in Ohio.

Additionally, Matt is a member of Leadership Cincinnati’s Class 36 and was a recipient of the Cincinnati Business Courier’s “40 Under 40” award in 2012. He also serves on St. Aloysius Orphanage’s Government Affairs Committee, the Strive Partnership’s Advocacy and Funding Committee and the United Way of Greater Cincinnati’s Regional Public Policy Council.
