Melissa is a Senior Associate in Shoosmiths’ Commercial team, with a particular focus on technology. She regularly advises clients on their technology-based commercial contracts. Recent examples include:

- advising a leading UK care provider on the procurement of a SaaS solution for a digital care records and e-rostering system
- advising a global safety equipment group on the procurement of a new payroll system
- advising a multinational cosmetics company on its metaverse and generative AI projects

 

Melissa has particular expertise in the retail and consumer sector, having worked in-house at a leading fashion retailer for several years. Her understanding and appreciation of the challenges faced by business and in-house legal teams enables her to co-ordinate and manage projects effectively, and she is driven by the need to offer clients creative and practical solutions.

Melissa has extensive experience in implementing processes and procedures in order to maximise efficiency and profitability for legal teams, including the implementation of legal tech for contract management and template creation, the development of training manuals, the creation of a legal pricing and profitability tool, and the delivery of technical training workshops.
