Nienke is a Jersey qualified solicitor with over a decade of post qualification experience in investment funds and international commercial matters. Specialising in cross border investment and collective investment vehicles, Nienke’s clients praise her for her proactive and solutions focused approach to every transaction, irrespective of size and complexity.
She pursues excellence in everything she does and her ability to see the bigger picture has led her to work with many significant local and international fund managers, real estate investors and financial institutions on transactions with a Jersey nexus. Nienke is passionate about Africa and with local South African knowledge and connections she aims to assist emerging and established fund managers with an African focus to achieve their goals.
Nienke’s practice includes advising on the establishment, structuring, regulation and launch of investment funds, negotiating and drafting a broad range of commercial agreements and advising on the sale and financing of structures holding international real estate (including JPUTs). She advises on the full spectrum of generalist funds and sector funds, including real estate, private equity, venture capital, buy-out, infrastructure, housing, technology, healthcare, impact, ESG, renewable energy and hedge funds.
Having practised in South Africa, New York and Jersey, Nienke has worked with a broad range of clients across multiple asset classes and creates lasting relationships with her clients and intermediaries. She is ranked in Chambers and listed as a rising star by IFLR1000 and a key lawyer by Legal 500.

Professional Career
Nienke joined Carey Olsen in January 2016 after participating in the annual foreign associate program of Kirkland & Ellis and practicing in their New York office for a year. She qualified as an attorney in South Africa in 2011 (non practising) and practised corporate and commercial law at leading African law firm ENSafrica in South Africa. She holds a BAccLLB degree from the University of Stellenbosch and an LLM in Commercial Law from the University of Edinburgh.
