Taylor leads the China team within Deacons’ financial services practice. He has more than 20 years of experience advising on investment funds related legal issues, and has extensive experience in the establishment of private funds, retail funds and their authorisation for public sale in Hong Kong, and the establishment of offshore PE funds.

Taylor regularly advises clients on setting up fund management businesses in Hong Kong, and offshore hedge fund start-ups, particularly with managers of mainland Chinese background. He also advises foreign fund managers on mainland Chinese QFII and QDII matters, regulatory issues and setting up offices in mainland China.

Taylor is known for his pioneering spirit and has advised on many innovative products including the first of many RQFII funds, the first RQFII ETF and the first RMB bond fund. He also advised on the HSBC China Dragon Fund - the first closed ended fund listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2007 for public offers, the first China A-Shares QFII fund and the first retail fund of hedge funds.
