Intellectual property licensing, transactions and technology transfer

Trevor Foster is a registered patent attorney who focuses on intellectual property (IP) licensing and transactions. He works with research institutions, start-ups and established companies to advise on, draft and negotiate agreements concerning a wide array of IP rights, including:

• Patents
• Copyrights and software
• Trade secrets and know-how
• Biological materials

Trevor also has experience with government contracting and procurement contracts subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). He has counseled clients on a variety of technologies, including computer hardware and software, medical and pharmaceutical innovations, and biological materials, such as plants, human and animal cell lines and proteins, and viruses.

Trevor began his career working as a litigator on complex patent litigation matters, and he parlays his litigation experience into his transactional work by considering the possible risks and liabilities that may arise due to various contractual provisions and decisions made while drafting and negotiating agreements. Prior to entering the legal field, Trevor worked in multiple biology and chemistry laboratories, including a medicinal chemistry research lab and a state crime and toxicology lab.
