Uri Weinstok, Partner at BLP, specializes in Competition & Antitrust, Privacy & Data Protection, Intellectual Property, and Advertising, Marketing & Consumer Protection. With over 20 years of experience, he is recognized as a leader in his fields by Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, and Who’s Who Legal. Known for his commitment and availability, he advises on mergers, regulatory actions, intellectual property litigation, and compliance. Uri is a member of GALA, INTA, and ASIPI and has served as an international consultant for the World Bank and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He joined BLP as a partner in 2015 following the merger with Weinstok Abogados, a firm of which he is a founding partner.

Significant Accomplishments
Acquisition of SCRiesgo by Moody’s. BLP provided acquisition advice to Moody’s in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, including due diligence, regulatory and antitrust analysis, and negotiation of transaction agreements.
Global life science ingredients distributor Acquires DIVSA in Central America. BLP advised Barentz International on the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Distribuciones Industriales Variadas, S.A. (DIVSA) in a significant transaction involving eight jurisdictions (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, British Virgin Islands, Panama, and Mexico).
BLP advised Marsh McLennan, the largest insurance brokerage firm in the world. BLP advised on all aspects of the transaction, including due diligence, contract drafting and negotiation, regulatory filings and approvals, and closing.
BLP represents GRUMA DEMASA in a Sanction before the national competition authority in one of the jurisdiction’s highest-profile cases.
BLP advised the world’s second-largest salmon farmer. BLP has advised Chilean company Agrosuper and its subsidiary, Empresas Aquachile S.A., on the sale of Grupo ACI S.A., to Industrias Martec (one of the largest marine fish processing and mariculture companies in Central America). The sale of Grupo ACI involves the indirect transfer of three Costa Rican operating subsidiaries and one U.S. entity.
BLP advised LAICA, the largest player in the sugar market sector. The client was sued by a competitor that alleged abuse of a dominant position in the market by supposedly imposing exclusive deals on retailers in the sale and distribution of sugar and related products. BLP acted as the defendant’s lead counsel.
Acquisition of WeWork by Grupo Garnier. BLP advised the client throughout the process, including due diligence, drafting the SPA, reviewing and negotiating lease agreements, and closing the transaction. BLP advises Grupo Garnier on day-to-day operations, including tax and labor law matters
