Profile
Stan Gregory was a partner when he retired at Bradley. He had extensive experience in general obligation and special revenue financings for Alabama counties and cities, utilities boards and joint-action agencies, as well as with public agency borrowing and the loan programs of the Rural Development Division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He served as bond counsel in a broad variety of financings, including those involving variable rate debt, derivatives, forward delivery agreements, and credit enhancement.
In the tax arena, Stan had extensive experience in state and local taxation, especially in regard to Alabama's complex ad valorem property tax system, including both the successful defense of various aspects of that system against federal and state constitutional challenges and the representation of taxpayers in valuation disputes. His governmental affairs work included representation of clients before regulatory agencies, preparation of bills for introduction in federal, state and local legislative bodies, and advice to clients respecting the impact of pending and proposed legislation.
Stan’s estate planning and probate experience included preparing wills and trusts and the protection of estate assets, proceedings in probate court involving estate management and administration and challenges to the validity of wills.
In the energy area, Stan prepared and negotiated power sales and partial requirements agreements, interconnection agreements, and other power supply arrangements for utilities and wholesale electric suppliers and assisted clients in proceedings before the Alabama Public Service Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
