Profile
Benjamin W. Chertok is a litigator in Dykema’s Chicago office. He has experience in various practice areas of litigation, including insurance defense, business torts, defending clients against abuse and misconduct allegations, real estate disputes, and contract litigation. Mr. Chertok advises and assists clients in all phases of the litigation process, including each stage of pretrial and trial work in both state and federal court.
Mr. Chertok graduated from Northwestern University School of Law with honors where he served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology. While in law school, Mr. Chertok clerked for the State's Attorney’s Office in the Criminal Appeals Division Mr. Chertok then obtained a 711 license which he used to appear in court on behalf of the Public Defender’s Office. There, Mr. Chertok obtained several courtroom victories for his clients, both at trial as well as numerous substantive pre-trial motions that led to favorable dispositions for his clients. In his final year of law school, Mr. Chertok handled complex litigation and investor protection matters, representing victims of fraud. During that time, he also became a certified Mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution and mediated a wide variety of cases in Chicago’s Daley Center Courthouse. These cases included small claims matters, breach of contract disputes, landlord-tenant litigation, and more.
