Profile
I have extensive experience as a dispute resolution lawyer across a variety of disciplines including projects and construction, energy and resources, and commercial litigation.
I regularly advise principals, contractors and engineers on major construction and infrastructure projects in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. I assist clients in the resolution of disputes through assessment and advice of claims, mediation, adjudication and management of litigated disputes.
I have acted for clients in all superior courts of Western Australia and New South Wales, the Federal Court of Australia and also international arbitrations under the rules of the ICC.
Career highlights
- Acted for an EPC contractor in ICC Arbitration proceedings involving a dispute with the owner arising out of the engineering, procurement and construction of onshore works of a major LNG facility in Australia;
- Acted for the head contractor in ICC Arbitration proceedings regarding the construction of a combined cycle power plant on a major LNG project in Australia;
- Acted for a plaintiff in a commercial dispute in the Supreme Court of Western Australia seeking an account and damages from the estate following the deceased failure to account to the client in relation to the sale of mining tenements in Africa;
- Acted for a plaintiff in a trial in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in relation to the defendant's failure to pay scrap metal, copper cabling, and used and unused plant and equipment on a mine site in South Australia;
- Acted for a large plaintiff company in a District Court action in relation to a breach of contract dispute over the hire of temporary accommodation on a mine site in Western Australia;
- Acted for the lead engineering firm in relation to a building following the collapse of a roof canopy;
- Acted in the defence of a multi-billion dollar estate claim in the Supreme Court regarding a beneficiary who was seeking a greater share of the estate on the basis that the Will did not make “adequate provision” for the proper maintenance of the beneficiary;
- Acted for various clients in relation to construction adjudication claims under the Construction Contracts Act 2004 (WA) and Building and Construction Industry (Security of Payment) Act 2021.
