Erick Antonio Diaz is a distinguished attorney at Buchalter’s Los Angeles office, where he is a key member of the Insolvency & Financial Law and Latin America practice groups. Mr. Diaz brings a wealth of experience in representing secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, debtors, and other key stakeholders in complex bankruptcy and restructuring matters. His practice is characterized by a strategic approach to navigating the intricacies of financial distress situations, ensuring that his clients’ interests are rigorously defended. Before joining Buchalter, Mr. Diaz sharpened his legal skills as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Dolly M. Gee at the United States District Court for the Central District of California, where he gained invaluable insights into the intricacies of federal judicial processes and decision-making.
As the Executive Chair of the Bankruptcy Law Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, Mr. Diaz leads a dynamic team in providing forward-thinking analysis on emerging judicial and statutory developments in bankruptcy law. In this pivotal role, he oversees educational initiatives and presents authoritative lectures on a wide array of topics, including discharge, case administration, third-party releases, and the ethical dimensions of bankruptcy practice. His leadership ensures that both creditor and debtor perspectives are thoroughly examined, fostering a deeper understanding of the evolving landscape of bankruptcy law.
In addition to his leadership at the Beverly Hills Bar Association, Mr. Diaz is deeply committed to the development of future legal professionals. As an Advisor to UCLA School of Law’s Alumni Mentoring Pathway, he actively mentors aspiring attorneys, offering guidance and support as they navigate their own legal careers. His involvement in this program reflects his dedication to giving back to the legal community and helping shape the next generation of legal minds.
Mr. Diaz’s dedication to fostering diversity and inclusion within the legal profession is further exemplified through his role as a Member of the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. In this capacity, he plays a pivotal role in preparing programs aimed at supporting underrepresented communities within the legal field. Additionally, he is actively involved in providing scholarships to law students who are passionate about pursuing careers as bankruptcy law attorneys and scholars.
