Profile
Ian P. Faria is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and focuses his practice on megaprojects in all construction disciplines, including infrastructure, petrochemical, commercial, industrial and residential construction law. He is a member of Bradley’s Construction and Government Contracts practice groups and was a founding partner and first office managing partner for the Houston office.
A highly proficient litigator, Ian has successfully defended numerous contractors in cases involving claims of alleged defective construction. His extensive trial experience includes conducting jury and bench trials in federal and state court, as well as arbitrations in multimillion- and multibillion-dollar private and governmental projects throughout Texas. Ian also is well-versed in negotiating complex settlements of claims, and has prepared and negotiated major design and construction agreements for numerous high-profile projects, including multibillion-dollar projects across the state.
Ian’s construction practice covers a range of projects, including highways, bridges, tunnels and airports, petrochemical facilities (both greenfield and brownfield), public works projects, commercial and retail construction, industrial and warehouse facilities, residential (single and multi-family), apartment complexes, pipelines, and drilling sites. His clients and their projects, as well as their disputes, extend across the country, including Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. His representation of contractors, developers, owners, specialty contractors, and sureties is in all facets of the construction process, from the preparation of contract documents, to counseling on business and legal issues that arise during projects, and the resolution of disputes, as well as in OSHA compliance and investigation matters.
Ian is actively involved in the construction industry. He serves as general counsel for the Greater Houston Builders Association and as legal advisor for Operation FINALLY HOME, a nonprofit 501(c) that provides custom-made, mortgage-free homes to wounded and disabled veterans and the widows of fallen soldiers. He is a frequent speaker and author on a variety of topics concerning the construction industry for the State Bar of Texas, the Associated General Contractors, Associated Builders & Contractors, and the American Subcontractors Association.
