James Somerville is a Partner in A&L Goodbody's Tax Department. He advises on all aspects of taxation law but with particular emphasis on financial services and property related tax, including structured finance transactions, capital market issues, investment funds and cross border financings, mergers and acquisitions, inward investment, group re-organisations and property acquisition and holding structures.

James is a qualified solicitor in both Ireland and England and Wales and an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute. He has a law degree from Trinity College Dublin. He worked in both the Dublin and London offices of A&L Goodbody before qualifying as a solicitor in 1996.

James has contributed to a number of legal and tax books and periodicals, most recently contributing a chapter on Investment Funds to "Taxation of Financial Transactions" published by the Irish Taxation Institute.
